SOME NEW APPOINTMENTS LIST OF "PROBABLES" II is an open secret now that tho Government is making appointments of several gentlemen to the Legislative Council. It is understood that the number is fourteen, and tbe following names have bean mentioned as those of probablo appointees:— Mr. d. H. h.anl, of Wellington, some time member for Wellington North. Mr. W. .1. Goddis, editor of the "New Zealand Times." Mr. George Jones, of Oamaru, newspaper proprietor, formerly a member of the Council. Mr. G. M. Thomson, of Dunedin, lately member. So' Dunedin Nxrlli. t Sir John Sinclair, of Dunedin, formerly a member of the Council. 'Mr. , W. IT. Triggs. of Christchurch, editor of "The Press." Mr. G. J. Gnrlnml of Auckland, a member of the Kdiicsiiion Board in that district, and at present chairman. Mr. H. I , '. Wigrain, of Christchurch, a former member of the Council. Mr 11. I* Michel, well-known as a merchant and as a public man on the West Coast. Mr. J. Gnmmond, also a West Coast resident, Mayor of ITokitika.
