UNION COMPANY'S STEAMER TORPEDOED
LOSS OF THE WAIHEMO. j London, Mny ]. News has been received that the Union Company's steamer Waihemo, 4283 tons, has been sunk in the- Mediterranean. The crew was raved.—Ane.N.Z. C'abio Assn. MEMBERS Ot 1 THE CREW RETURNING TO NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Duncdin, May 2. The Waihemo, which was torpedoed in tho Mediterranean, was formerly known as the Canada Cape. When the vessel was taken over by the Imperial authorities, the deck hands, firemen, and trimmers were replaced by others in England, but the officers, engineers, and stewards wero all New Zealandcrs. Tho Union Company has received ndvico that the majority of these are en route- to Now Zealand. Tho officers are:-Caplain J. Thomson; chief officer, Mr. D. Macpherson; second officer, Mr. C. Atkinson; third officer, Mr. M'Kolsey; chief engineer, Mr. M. M'Noil; second engineer, Mr. J. M'lnness; third engineer, Mr. W. Ferguson; fourth engineer, Mr. W. Lax.
