MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE AND CIVIL CASES. Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., presided at tho Magistrate's Court yesterday and dealt -with tho police cases. Doris Heilan M'G'ullough was convicted of being an idle and disorderly person in that she possessed insufficient lawful means oi , support, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
Alfred Heuvy Gregory and Sydney Albert Colmer, who failed to appear, were convicted of using threatening behaviour whereby :i breach of the pence was occasioned, and were each fined Ms. with the option of 11 days' imprisonment.
A soldier named Tom Wilkinson was charged with being- found drunk, also with wilfully damaging an office- counter door, valued at £1, the property of tlm New Zealand Government. On the charge of drunkenness he was convicted and ordered to be handed over to the military authorities, and on the second charge he was ordered to make good the damage, in default H days' imprisonment. Tor insobriety, Charles Alfred Anderson, against whom there was one previous conviction, was fined 205., with the option of seven days' imprisonment. Two first offenders were each fined 10s., with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment, and another, who failed to appear, was fined 205., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. CIVIL CASES. Mr. W. G.
