Lyon, secretary of the Woodvillc Jockey Club. Red Ribbon is at present andling. but she is to take na training work agam immediately to be cot ready for the Cornwall Handicap, in which event she was successful last year. Swale, who used to carry Mr. 0. 1). Greenwood's colours, and was sold to a Southland racing man. is being schooled over hurdles. The Danube gelding is now in Hogan's stable. It is reported that, the Invercargill horseman, A. M'Kav, lies handed in his license owing to ill-health. A new recruit to the .iumping brigade is the Hawera-owucd Dingle, a place-get-ter in several important handicaps this season. He is stated to have jumped well in his initial displays. Reports from Orari state, that Crib has been doing serviceable work of late, ami will bo sent, north to contest the Wanganni Steeplechase. Comely has gone lame, and her trip to Waniranui is not likely to eventuate. K. D. Jones will, however, go north with Bore, who jumps tho big fences well, and Charley. The Napier owner who races as "Mr. E. H. Barracq" is retiring from the sport, and his horses, Impediment, Matama, Wawata, and Demodes. arc to be sold. There should not be much trouble in finding a buyer for Impediment, who, in addition to winning both Oaks, waß also successful in several handicaps. Eurohin, who unexpectedly won tho Doncaster Handicap in 1916. and had not been successful since, was equal to winning the April Plate, six furlongs, at the Moonee Valley Meeting last month. The ruuner-un was the Waikanae-bred Bourlang, a half-brother by Bvzoniau to Balboa. Bezonian got a good advertisement at Hastings, where his son Waimatao was successful in both opeu sprint events. The Linacre maro Veronal, who is owned by a well-known latea sportsman, but has been raced in Melbourne for some time past, has just started training again at Caulfioid after a lengthy spell. The Bobadil' horße Honri:; ;lnce being I purchased by 31. T. M'Gvalli, has won several' good sprint handicaps. At the I Mooneo Valley Meeting last mouth he was tried over ten furlongs, but he could only finish third to the imported Ashview and Pinkei'ton. Several North Island riders arc going south to assist at the Ashburtou Meeting next week. Amongst the number are H. Lorigan, who will ride for S. Trilford. 11. Watson, who will steer Gay Lad and Mortham, and G. Clarke, who will have the mount on Battle Eve. Two promising hurdle horses in Sir Alba and Toki,went wrong during the racing at nnstin'gs last week, and both will be missing for the rest of the 6easou. A Press Association telegram from Sydney states that Mr. E. J. Watt has temporarily retired from racing. He lias presented Pontoon and Football to his. trainer (H. Rayner). His other horses will probably be raced by another sportsman.
