Mr. Clarke, who ivas born in Hobart 77 years ago, came ;o Victoria wh-?u only eight years old with the-late Mr. W. J. T. Clarke, of whom, by the way, he was no relation. He gained his experience on various properties/of Mr. W, J. T. Clarke, and Eventually became the general manager iif-all.hia estates. He lived for a great many'years, at Bolindavale and there established the famous stud of Shorthorn ;attle. He was regarded as probably the teat judge cf a Shorthorn vn Australia, and had l acted as judge at most if the leading shows in lie had been a member of the founcil of she jtoyal Agricultural Society of Victoria since-1886, and had been vice-presi-dent on several, occasions. Since' 1913 he had been one of the'trustees of the go--iety. In addition to his knowledge oi Shorthorn cattle, Mr. Clarko was also a breeder of English Leicester sheep. Mr. Clarke- leaves a growi.-iip family.
