' An dfhcinl report from Mesopotamia 6tates: "Our forces advanced north of Bagdad along the road leading to Mosul via Kifri and lurkuk. We captured kifn on April Si, taking forty 1 prisoners. The 'lurks then retreated rapidly ; towards Kirkuk,: but our cavalry overtook them and charged ono column, kill- ' 1 ing over a hundred and capturing 538 : prisoners, with much war material. Our cavalry forced tho passage of tho Asqu. at a point south-west of Taza IDmrmatli on April 28, and simultaneously our main ' forces reached that river. Tho cavalry early in tho morning of April 28 got astrido the i-nemy's communications to- , wards Tauq, whereupon our infantry advanced and captured Taza Khurmatli, capturing threo hundred prisonors and six ; guns.
