BUSY BOILERMAKERS. Tho few remaining boilermakers in Wellington arc now ooiuronted with mopo work than they can do. • As.| their services aro first needed for.produco steamers sailing for Inglnnd, the smaller Now Zealand stcameiß have to wait until the larger ships aro dono with them boforo any repairing work can be gone on with. A case in point is the Now Plymouth Harbour Board's dredge' Paritutu, which lias for a fortnight finished licr overhaul on the Blip, and is . waiting tljpre while' openings, in her ladder, are tightened. It was orginnlly intended t*> take thp ladder out of tho dredge for overhaul, but in consequence of'tho scarcity of workerß tho work is being done on tho ship. _ When other vessels in port .are not needing attention, three.gangs are working all day and lato at night at the ladder, but during the last week the gangs were at work on other ships. Yesterday only one gang was on board, ami at that r.ite the dredge will be at Wellington for $ least another week. Messrs. Wright, and Co. will at 5 p.m. to-day dispateh the Kegulus for Nelson, Westport-, and Greymouth. Messrs, Bannatyno and Co. advise tlr? tho Defender is due to-night from Lyttelton. and t'o-moiTow iB to sail for. Nydia j Bay to load timber for Wellington. j No steamer will leave Wellington tonight for Nolson as is usual, on account of the Nikau being., in dock at Nelson for annual overhaul. It is expccted that she will resume on Tuesday next, am. until then only tho Kaitoa will Bail, tomorrow, on Friday, and on Monday. The latest advice from Westport concerning tho movements ol' Wellingtonbounrt colliers said '.hat the Poherua was to have sailed at midnight yesterday, ana the Koniata is to sail to-night. . The rudder of the Wavcrley will be relitted to-day and she will bo re-launch-ed from the slip to-morrow morning, sailing in tho evening for Patea. The Union Company's Monowai, sailing to-night, for Lyttelton and Duncdin. will return to Wellington on Sunday, and Kail on Monday for Napier, Gisborne,,and Auckland. , ,r i - At tho annual meeting of the Mcreluiuc Service Guild of Aiif'N.Z. bcc» lion) hcl.l about 30 members woro present.
