FALSE IMPRESSION OF LOSSES. London, April 27. The War Oflico stales: "A Turkish official message on April 19 6tated: 'At the request of the English a two hours' armistice was arranged to give the English an opportunity to bury a largo number of their dead.' "This statement gives an incorrect impression of heavy British losses. Tho facts were that after stubborn fighting, the onemy_ losing heavily, an arrangement not in the nature of an armistice was made between a German officer and the British Rfid Cross for tho collection of the wounded, tho enemy having previously fired on our parties, causing a mutual abandonment of the collection of wounded and dead."—Aus.-N.Z.
