LULL IN MAJOR OPERATIONS THE WEST
THREE WEEKS' STRAIN YET 'AHEAD THE FATE OF YPRES BRITISH LINE ADJUSTED \ The dispatches from the Western front to-day indicate a lull in tho major operations, although Sir Douglas Haig mentions that a hostile attack is developing at Locre. The' British line in the Ypres sector has been readjusted. The "High Military Authority" gives it as his opinion that the German offensive in the north may bo expected to last for three weeks yet. Foch is adhering to his policy of wearing down the enemy's divisions before launching his counter-offensive. There are persistent rumours of a counter-revolution in Russia, but theso aro denied by tho Russian Embassy at Washington. One story from Swedish Sources says that Generals Alexieff and Korniloff havo arrived at Petrograd, and have become masters of the situation.
