THE CALLING UP OF CLASS B

Sir,—r should like to air a piovance of the Class B men. Why should they be called up in two ballots and the C and D Class asked to enlist, while there are more men than the camps will hold of tlio First Division and Class A shirking their responsibilities? I could mention several. One works at a oheeso factory—anybody could do his work; one, of tlio fanner's sons, for instance. Another was given leave until the end of the < milking season to supply his iniik to town. Since then he has sent it to the cheese factory. Another was working at a etore and got exemption for a time; now he is working on the railway. Another man's father has 100 acres, on which he fattens bullocks. The son rides about in his rubber-tyred gig, smoking a cigar. Thero are ecores of cases very similar. Class B men cannot go into camp without a protest when, they seo these thiuge going on day after day.—l am, etc., CLASS B.

[Class B men will not go into camp beforo Class A men. The rases of all First Division men who were granted temporary exemption will bo reviewed, mid only in very special ciVses are the exemptions likely to be continued. We have already expressed the opinion that it is wrong and bad policy to call for volunteers from C and I) Classes.]
