HORSE RACING

Sir,—l quite agreo with some of tlio remarks of "A. Glendower" in his letter published in your paper yesterday ro horso racing. Only Inst Wednesday, in Foatherston, a Magistrato gavo nn order for a soldier, his wife, and a school toaehor to give up possession of a house, so that tho owner could let it to a horsetrainer. Evidently, the Magistrate ami tho owner of the houso and tho liorso trainer consider that tho training of horses is far moro important these times than tho training of soldiers' children or men for the reinforcements. I think that the decison given by tlio Magistrato very unfair and unjust, as it is well known thai; owing to the keen demand for houses that it is impossible for these persons to get accommodation, but will 1)C thrown on tho mercy of their frionds. It is time that the Hon. Minister' of Justice (Mr. T. M. Wilford} should see that laws are made not for the benefit of the wealthy landlords, but to protect ! those people who aro forced to rent i houses and rooms, paying as tlie.v do such exorbitant rentals. Unless something is done, Lorcl help the Second Division when they come in, as they will get precious littlo from some of tho lukewarm, patriotic landlords of Featherston — I am, " JUSTICE.
