N.Z. ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS

The sketch exhibition of worts by New Zealand artists, now being held at the Art Gallery, Whitmore Street, should be a source of attraction to manyvisitors to the city to-day. Many ot tho pictures have already found buyers, and there is quite a brisk demand for tickets in tho art union, which will be drawn before the exhibition closes. Mr, Bowring's excellent full-length portrait sketch of Surgeon-General Henderson found a purchaser yesterday, and his sketch the "Hospital Ship" has also been acquired for a private collection. Other sales recorded . are:—"Feluccas, Ismailia," '"Mixed Bazaar, Cairo," "Evening, Helmeih," "Edinburgh Castle," "The Thames," and "Torpechan Street" by A. F. Nicoll, S.S.A« "The Gorsc-Crowned Hill," "Side Lane, Taita," "Hutt Hirer," and "Lyall Bay," by A. Bender; a "sketch" and sbmo dainty pen nnd ink illustrations bv Mrs: E. K. Robison; "Mount Cook," "Elie do Beaumont," and "Lake Mapourika," by C. H. Hqworth; "The Angel's Retreat, Happy Vallev," by R. L. Tingey; "Titahi Bay," by Miss AFEldowney; "Life Study," a delightful little pencil drawing by C. Hay Campbell; and "White Pines," bv W. H. Pratt.- Tho proceeds of tho latter are to bo handed to the Red Cross Fund. The Gallery is open dailv from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to-day.
