Jameson, Kent Terrace, was married to 'Mr. Desmond Wolch, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Welch, Lansdowne, Mnsterton. Tho bride was given away by her father, and Miss Bessie Jameson (sister) and Miss Muriel' Welch (sister of the bridegroom) attended as bridesmaids. Entertaining Mothers of Our Fighting Men. The monthly gathering of the mothers of our fighting men, of which tho honor-

ary division of tho W.N.R. aro tho hnstosses, was bold in tho Town Hall yesterday afternoon, and was very largely attended.' Her Bx;ollency tho Countess I of Liverpool was present, and was rc- } coived by the president, Mrs. G. W. Russell, and members of the committee, all of whom interested thomsolvos in securing the enjoyment of tlio many mothers who were their guests. Of much interest to tho gathering was the breezy address given by Captain BailThompson, who spoko of. some of tho experiences which befel him and his men when thsy wero on duty in the Persian Gulf. Of much pleasure also to tho gathering was tho musical programme which had been arranged by Mrs. Russell, and to which .Miss Fuller and- Mr. O'Connor contributed songs; Julie Marris, F. Baywards, and Dorothy Buck some protty fancy- dances; and Mrs. lo Marchand, and Miss Newman pianoforte solos, l'ho accompaniments wero played by Mrs. Jo Marchand, Mrs. Morgan, and Miss WUford. The tea arrangements were carried out by the committee appointed for tliat purpose, of which tho controllers aro Mrs. Baldey, Mrs/ J. Hislon, Mrs. Bcthune, alid Mrs. Ma'rris. Mrs. W. F. Massey was among those who wero present, also Lady Anderson and the Mayoress (Mrs. J. P. Luke). Home Produce at Hutt Flower Show. A very striking feature at the Flower Show hold nt the Hutt yesterday was a display in tho homo produce section, and it' is not astonishing that it attracted widespread interest and admiration. It comprised a wonderful collection of homemade cakes of all kinds, sweets, jams, preserved fruits, obutneys, passion fruit lioney, lemon honey, wines, liqueurs, summer cordials, lavender soap, biscuits, and in fact very imaginable kind of homo produce that can bo thought of, even to essences. The crowning feature l of it was a very largo oake, the icing of which was quite a masterpiece. A distinctive feature of tho display, quite apart from its merit, was the way in which every I detail had been so carefully carried out, even to tho corking of the wines aau liqueurs with quite professional gold tops. This remarkablo display, which would have been tho prido of many a woman's - hoart, was tho achievement of Mr, G. A. Chapman solely.

Tho members of the Wairarapa Lady Liverpool Committee have made up a large number of parcels during tho last few days at their Mastorton rooms, to he dispatched to tho soldiers in Egypt. Each parcel contains a tin of tongues, milk, honey, half-pound of tea, and two pounds of loaf sugar. Miss Cecil Haines, the clever juvenilo performer, who was such a favourite in Wellington, has been selected from among many to support Guy Dates Post (the American actor) in "Tho Masquerader" in Australia, under tho Tait management. The many friends of Miss Mary Barkas, who some years ago took her I scienoe degree (M.Sc.) at Victoria Colj lege, will bo glad io learn that at tho I April medical examinations in London she succeeded in qualifying (with the degrees of M.R.C.S. and L&C.P. BRITISH RED CROSS ANNUAL MEETING OP WELLING-. TON CENTRE. The annual meetihg of tho Wellington Centre of tho Now Zealand branch of the British Red Cross Society and Order of St. John of Jerusalem was held last evening, Mr. T. Young presiding. The annual report stated that tho value of tho goods dispatched from tho depot for export was J14,894 7s. id.; supplied to local military hospitals, JC4O7 fls. Bd.) moneys collected for all purposes, .£51,882 195.; grand total, JC67,1&1 7s. 6d. In addition to the above, goods and money had been sent away direct from some of the sub-centres. Red Cross supplies to tho valuo of JJ723 wore sent to Mesopotamia, besides 71 cases of foodstuffs, while supplies to tho value of JCSSG were sent to Egypt, besides 399 cases of foodstuffs. Tho London committee hod been authorised to put on board returning transports extra comforts to the valuo of per man. The Comforts Guild had supplied to men in local hospitals comforts and luxuries which ore not part-of the regular hospital provision, and which cost in the aggregate .2310.195. sd. Up to March 14 last 19,270 men had icturned, of whom en April 1 2130 were receiving treatment in hospitals or convalescent homes in New Zealand. In connection with this matter,tho' centre is contributing ,£2OOO required for temporary hutmonts at llanmer, Lowry Bay, Victoria Hospital, Eotorua, and Wunganui, whefo the men aro to receive functional treatment.
