It appears a tally taken of a miner on contract was attached to a truck of coal won by the company's men on daily wages,, the company's mark in chalk being defaced. This led tho manager to dismiss one of the miners. The union took the matter up and a strike was narrowly aicrted. • Mr. H. Semplo has been in the dietrict a good deal, and tho credit of settling both disputes is to him.
