Cable Assn. OFFICIAL MENDACITY EXPOSED. London, April 18. The Admiralty, in replying to Admiral von Capello's statement, 6ays: "Tho enemy still relies upon exaggerated figures of losses. The average monthly loss of British ships last year, including marine risk, was 333,000 gross tons, whoreas Von Cappello bases his argument on an average loss from submarine alone of 600,000 tons. Tho monthly figures for tho last quarter ended March 31 will bo-published shortly, and will vindicate tho statements as regards the continuance of the drop in the rato of loss. The First Lord of tho Admirnlty has already assured tho Houso of Commons in re?ard to the adequacy of the supply of steel to give tho desired output, and presently all the shipyards will bo fully supplied with steel."—Keuter.
