SOLDIERS SENTENCED

The findings of a District Court-Mar-Hal held at Trentham Camp on April 8, 1918, having been confirmed by the Commandant Of the New Zealand Military Forces, are hereby promulgated:— ■ 66,192 Private B. W. Crear, Details Oote Thirty-fourth Reinforcements), found guiltv of: (1) When under orders lor active service, deserting His Majesty's service; (2) losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries. Sentenced to detention tor 140 days. Stoppages to pay for deficiencies in kit amounting to .£1 3s. -a. Confirmed at Wellington, April 4, but tho sentence is mitigated so that if tho accused embarks for active service putside of New Zealand, then upon arrival at tho final port of disembarkation, the unexpired portion (if any) of his sentence shall bo remitted, and his New Zealand records shall be endorsed accordingly. 65,167 Privato P. Fitzpatrick, Details (late Thirty-fifth Eeinforcements), found guilty of: (1) Deserting His Majesty s Service} (2) losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries. Sentenced to detention for 112 davs. Stoppages to pay for deficiencies in'kit amounting to .SI 13s. 3d. The sentence has been mitigated in the same terms as the first case.
