The latest, official statement of British man-Power shows that the total forces now .miraher 7,500,000, made up as follows:— From Dominions, and colonies 900,000 iProm England 4,530,000 „ Scotland 620,000 » Ireland 170,000 i> Wales _ 280,000 ~ Dominions andcoloniee 900,000 ... Total -.;....,.. ~..6,500,000 The remaining million consists of Dative troops, labour and other corps from India, Africa, and dependencies. From the above figures it will be seen that of the 6,500,000, Engki"i supplies 70 per cent., the overseas Dominions 13i per cent, Scotland 9£ per fcent.,' Wales 4t per cent., Ireland I\. per cent. Deducing the figures to the Percentage of population it will be seen that •tScotland supplies 15 percent. Wales- supplies 14 percent. England supplies 131-3 percent. ■Dominions supply 6 percent. Ireland supplies 4 peresnt. Had Australia recruited in the sauio proportion as England, Scotland, and 'Wales, she would have raised 700,000. !men._ It should be' remembered also ■that in addition to Great Britain's contribution in soldiers and sailors, over 6,000,000 of her people are engaged in Jnunition making, shipbuilding, and other war work.
