FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING. A special general meeting of the We]lmston Football Association was hold or. ■ Wednesday. Mr. A. E, "Wells presided, and there was a full attendance of delegates. The meeting was held to consider the capitation fees. The chairman said that the finances of the association were likely to be strained, and the-committeo in a circular suggested that players as well as members should pay fees. The, chairman moved on behalf of the Management Committee that the capitation, fees for the season, be as follow:— Third division, jC3. 35.; fourth division, it,ls.; and fifth division, ss. The chairman explained that last season the association had to depend on voluntary subscriptions to keep the finances on the right side. About .£2O was so collectcd, and he did not think the delegates desired this. The committee must look nioro to ils own players to keep the finances, sound. After a long discussion it was decided that, the capitation fees be, for third grade, one team .£3-'3s., two or more teams M 10s cach; fourth grade, one team, 215., two or'more teani6 15s. each; and fifth grade, ss. for cach team. Brother Egbert's, of the Marist; Brothers, notice of motion, "That no one is eligible for the schools' competitions'who i 3 ovt 15 years of age from the first day of April of ihe current year. A • primary schoolboy is one who lias not gained a proficiency cortificato or is eligible. for. a Junior National Scholarship in the current year." The matter was freely discussed, nnd the general opinion was .that if the schools' competition was to be a success thero should bo no restrictions as to age,, and the motion on being put was lost on the voices. It was decided that if sufficient entries b'e received a senior competition be bold this season. ORDINARY MEETING. Mr. Wells reported that itho deputation that waited on thn schools had met with a very favourable response. It was stated that np.lo the present 76 ontries had been received for the vaitious competitions. The closing of entries was extended to' Tuesday next. A letter was received from the Native College, Otaki, stating that it was intended to play, the "Soccer" game, and asking that a, tonm be sent from We - lington to play a match. It was decidi ed to grant a football. A letter was received from the Island Bay School, returning thanks for tliejnterest. taken in the school by the W.F.A. A ball was donated to the school. Balls were also granted to Wadestown, St Thomas's, Karori, Boys' Institute, and S'cutli Wellington School. Mr. J. C. Ward was accorded a motion of thanks for the .use of his' motor-car. REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Wellington Referees' Association was held at the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Monday evening, Mr. F.' O'Connell presiding ovor a most satisfactorv attendance. The report and bnl-nnce-sheet was adopted, a balance of .t'l os. Id. being shown. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows:—President, Mr. E. Windley; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. M'Ardle and F. O'Connell; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. AV. Wilson; delegate to Nev; Zealand Referees' Association, Mr. E. 'Windley; management committee, Messrs. Hendry, 'Ferguson, Josephs, and Couch; referee appointment board, Messrs. W. Auld, F. O'Coii'iiell, and H. Yeoman; examination board, Messrs. H. Yeoman, W. Auld, F. O'Connell, E. Windley, and C. Webster; sub-committee for seeking new referees', Messrs. W. M'Ardle,. W. Gibson, C. O'Shea, I. Trevethick, and W. Auld. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. J. Leddy, late hon. sec., who is now in camp, and Mr. B. L. Salmon for the interest they had taken in the association.
