At the King's Theatre on Sunday evening at 8 o'clock a public meeting will bo held under the auspices of the Wellington Labour Representation Committee and the Trades and Labour Council . to protest against the action of the Mayor and City Council in refusing the uso of the Town Hall to the Labour Party. The speakers will be Mr. A. j.. Hinnnmrsh, M.P., Mr. H. E. Holland, Mr. J. Read, and Mr. P. Fraser. The chairman will be Mr. A. Parlano (president of the Wellington L.R.C:). The following i ecommendation of the Finance and Property Committee was agreed to by the City Council last evening:—"That th'e council agree to take over Resolution Street and extensions of Yule Street and Cook Stceet as public streets, provided the Onepu Land Company deposit tlio estimated cost of asphalting the footways and an additional «EIOO to cover maintenance work, which may be required during the maintenance period." The application of the Goodyear Tyre Company to tho City Conncil for permission to erect a sign throe feet high on the front of their building in Courteuay Place lias been refused, but that the applicants are to be informed that the council will permit the erection of a sign not more than two feet m height'
