WAIRARAPA NOTES
1> — At the Wairarapa Auzac Club on Tuesday an interesting lecture was delivered by Mr. Stanley Parsonson, who had charge of the Wairarapa hut in France and at present on holidav leave. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. 'j. W. ( Card) presided over a fairly large audience. The speaker dealt with the work of the Y.M.C.A. in France, England, and Egypt, specially dwelling upon the efforts on tho battlefront in Flanders, where the, Wairarapa hut figured prominently as a haven of comfort to soldiers marching homeward from service in the trenches. "Good Old Wairarapa" was an exclamation frequently heard, and affording a full measure of reward to those working in the hut. The Mount Hector Tourist Track Committee have had the track cleared up and guido posts erected between. Alpha, lleolor, and Dennan, and is now arranging to erect a whnre (donated by Mr. Frank 'Wall) on Mount Hector. A branch of the Early Settlers' Association is being formed in Greytown, and already some 30 names have been subscribed* A meeting" is to be called at an early date.
