Y.M.C.A. CONFERENCE
After the strenuous time of the recent Red Triangle campaign, some 26 of the members of the local Y.JI.C.A. retired to spend a quiet week-end at Haywards, in order to flifiotiss and plan the winter [programme of the association, Mr. W. H. George having placed hie grounds and equipment at their disposal; The various departments: of work— physical, social, educational, and religious -rwere the subjects under consideration. JThe following aspects of the work wore given very full consideration:—Soldier work, returned toldier problem, boys' ■work, % foreign' missions, personal work, 'Bible" study classes, business studies,. Iwardinghousa ■ accommodation, men's meetings, meeting and helping boys com-' ing to city for first time, helping young anen with Civil Service, matriculation arid other studies, working library for Bi.ble class leaders, local preachers t>nd other Christian workers, indoor • and outdoor sports, . entertainments,. co-operation ,vitli present' church activities,, thrift ■ campaign Gathered around the big log camp fW nt night; the members, listened with 'great' interest to Sergeant l f . Chappell's story of what he had seen of the work of our N.Z.*" Y.M.C.A. field secretaries on the battlefield. Our secretaries had ibeen largely drawn from the ranks of churches and- Bible classes, and had dono jnagnificerit work under *very adverse 'circumstances. The conference was addressed by.the Bev. L. C. M. Donaldson, of : Melbourne (lato Victcyrian Y.M.C.A. field secretary), and Mr. C. H. Poole, M.P. The conference- is considered to. Save been a great success, end it is felt that Y.M.C.Aj work in Wellington will, as a result, make -much progress this * winter.
