RAMSAY MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIPS
JSGOOO WANTED FROM NEW ZEALAND. The Victoria College Council met last evening. Mr. C. Watson presided. A communication from England was read stating that a Ramsay Memorial was contemplated, and suggesting that it should take the form of a fellowship from each country, tho countries to subscribe MM each. Member? spoke favourably of the idea, but thought that the present was not the time to ask the Government for the money. Professor' Hunter: I am not one of those who think we are not well enough oft' to give MUM tor education. Sir Robert Stout: Ye?, but we should try lo save money for tho Government at present. Professor Hunter: I believe that the salvation of this country will depend in a great measure on a considerable expenditure of money on education, and I think that we will bo worse off after ihe war than we are now. Members expressed approval of the idea and decided to co-operate with olher university authorities in any steps taken to havo it put into operation.
