RED JERSEY APPEAL
3lr. L. 0. H. Tripp, chairman of the Ked Jersey appeal, writes:—"ln order that there should Ije no misunderstanding vjith any citizen, or company of citizens, who have kindly consented to assist in raising funds to enable the Salvation Army to carry on its work of comforting and cheering the Empire's defenders, I be» to state that from the beginning, at the request of the Salvation Army, the executive committee unanimously decided there should be ro art unions or games of chance permitted throughout the campaign. While appreciating the good purposes of those who have raised large sums by these means for patriotic purposes, it is icsnecttully requested that the decision ot the Red Jersey Appeal Committee bo adhered to throughout the effort. The standard maintained on these matters by the men of the red jersey is known throughout tho world, and I wish to express our sincere appreciation of Ihn committee's decision to comply with our wishes, and I have no doubt that every section of the community interested will bo equally generous."
