AMERICAN NAVAL COLLIER OVERDUE
BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN LOST WITH 203 ON BOARD. Washington, April 14. It is announced that the naval collier Cyclops'(l9,ooo tons) is believed to have been lost with 293 of the crew and passengers. Tho retnarkablo element of mystery surrounding the disappearance of thei Cyclops has caused the greatest speculations as to her fate. Officials point out that the' weather has not been rough, and thero is noroason to boliove that the vessel has foundered. The fate of the Cyclops strengthens the belief of tho Navy Department as to tho probability of a U-boat or raider operating betweon, Cuba and Brazil, and tho general opinion is that the Cyclops has been a victim of ,a raider. , .', fTIiQ Cyclops is one of several special tvpo big colliers for the American-Navy, end was built in 1909. Tho vessels are constructed to handle cargo with great opeed.
