At the recent examination held at Trinity College, London, Miss- Gortrude Estella .Roberts, only daughter of Mr. W. J. Eoberts, late of Chrietchurch, obtained tho Diploma of Associate of. Trinity College (A.T.C.L.) in pianoforte playing and theory. Tho February number of the "World's Work contains an article by Alice Woodhouse on "Baby Saving in Now Zealand," explaining something of Dr. Truby King's work, which has resulted in reducing infant mortality iu tho Dominion to 51 per 1000, while it is 110 in Prussia and 114 in England. Mrs. Leo, N. Myers is giving entertainments for wounded New Zealanders in various hospitals (.for the N.Z.W.C.A.)! She takes her performers into tho wards where the cot cases are. Last week she gave concerts in the wards of Walton Hospital, and this week she takes her party to Tooting Military Hospital. Mr. William H. Powell, dentnl surgeon, of Wellington, who camo to England and joined up two years ago and was invalided out, rejoined 'tho Army last August, but was again invalided, and lias been four months in hospital. Ho is now at Eastbourne convalescent, and the doctors hope he will be completely cured in two years. Sir Thomas Mackenzie last week visited over a hundred New Zealanders at No. 2 G.H., Chelsea. On Thursday he lunched with tho Aldermen and Judges at the Old Bailey, and was present at tiio opening of tho Nqn-Commissioned Officers' Club at St. George's Square. On Tuesday he took Iho chair at a meeting of the Cold Storage Association, at.which Staff-S.M. A. M. Wright, of New Zealand, lectured on "Some Applications of Chemistry to the Frozen Meat Industry," at the loyal Society of Arts.
