SHIPPING OUTLOOK
THREE MONTHS OF BAD TIMES. Taking leave of members in the House of Representatives last night, the Frimo Minister said that ho wished to congratulate members on the prosperous state ot the Dominion after three and a nail years of war. They might have to face adversity in the near tuture. . If shipping was available New Zealand would be able to find without much difficulty the money to carry on the war. He was verv glad to say that the outlook seemed ■to 'bo better than it was threo or four days ago. He hoped that we'had turned the corner, and that we should have no such anxieties ns some of them had suffered during the past three or four days. In regard to shipping, there would be bad times for three months. Dunne the •Aigenlir.e season shipping would go there, but when that season stopped about Atifru3t ho thought ships would come to New Zealand again. He did not think New Zealand would suffer m,uch from 'the scarcity of shipping, because the freezing companies had greatly increased their storage capacity. A.H the cheese would go, and all the butter would also no doubt go, but a fair proportion of it would have to stand over until tho ships came back to us. There were two aud n half million carcasses of meat in store, arid instructions from the Imperial Government wero to give preference to beef. Ho did not think all the meat could be got away, but he did think the greater part of it would be -shipped. New Zealand had come well out of tho war, but production must be maintained as long as possible.
