CHAMBER SITTING. In the Supremo Court in chambers on Saturday, beforo: His Honour the Chief Justico (Sir Eobert Stout), Garnet Holmes' appeared to answer a'motion-for. a writ of attachment Bought..to. be made against, him,; -upon dhe ground that he had not complied with an order-for- .alimony "pendente lite", in favour of his wife.. Holmes, appeared in person, mid explained to His Honour that the reason' why he had riot paid was because he had wo monoy, and that ho had recently been adjudicated a bankrupt. ■ Mr. A. Gray.K.C, who-appealed for Mrs. Holmes, said that he had been in-, formed- that Holmes had stated that he would jrathei"go. to gaol than.pay;alt niohy to his wife.
Holmes, in answer to His Honour, denied having made the statement.
His Honour pointed out to. him that a matter of alimony .was not' affected by bankruptcy, and ultimately -the matter was' allowed to stand over until .'Friday,, •to see i what arrangement' Holmes could make in the meanwhile.
