The Union Company adviae that the Kararnu left Greymoutli on Wednesday night with coal and timber for discharge at Wellington. 'i'hreo cable buoys have been placed in Cook Strait about 15 miles from White Bay and 20 miles from Lyall Bay. The Wairau will come of! the slip this morning and sail • direot for Blenheim. The dredge- Paritntu will come off on Monday morning. The next vessels to go on the slip will be the John and Waverlcy on Monday, probably both for cleaning and painting. The owners of the coaster Hnia advise that her moments are unoertajn, but sho will probably be engaged in trading to Lyttelton for a. few trips. Tho extensive repairs beinpr carried out on No. 2 Wharf at Lyttelton will make it necessary to close the wharf to trafficabout the middle of next week, and No. 3 Wharf will bo utilised for berthing the ferry steamers.

Negotiations for tho sale of the auxiliary schooner Gisborno have now been completed, and the vessel has become the property of the Tapley Shipping Line, of Dunedin. The Gisborne arrived at Dunedln several months ago from Blujt, and has been laid up ever since. She is now undergoing overhaul and alterations, and Is having a 45 horse-power Globe engine installed, which will givo a sea-going speed of about six knots. The vessel is eipocted to be ready for sen, about tho end of April, and sho will then he cmployed in the Dunedln-Inverearglll trade In conjunction with the auxiliary schooner May Howard. The IJlsborne in of 68 tons gross register, and. was built at Whangaroa in 1881.
