« A. further rise in the price of tobacco and cigarettes is anticipated in Masterton. A. tender at £7917 lias been accepted for additions to the Nurses' Home at the Masterton Hospital. The position of masseuse at the Masterton Hospital is being offered to Miss Neill, of Christohurch, who gained her certificates in England. Mr. W. Kerr, S.M., has reserved his decision in a case in which Veitch and Allan, of Wellington, claimed 'from M. Tod, taxi-proprietor, of Groytown, a sum of £123 16s. 3d. damages in connection with a motor-car accident on the Rimutaka hill. Tho Mastorton Girls' Red Cross Brigado, which has a. memborship of over two hundred, intends making a monthly house-to-house canvass for subscriptions to the Red Cross funds. Mr. iM. B. Tait has been re-elected chairman of the Featherston Patriotic Committee and Mr. Q. Donald representative on the AVairnrapa Central Executive.
