BALLOT OF MINERS
LARGE MAJORITY AGAINST STRIKING. By Telegraph.—Prose Association. Auckland, April 8. Information has been received that the men nt the Waipa, Pukeniiro, and Taupiri mines, in the Waikato, on Friday, took a ballot on tho question of striking. It is state) that a largo majority favoured continuing work. The ballot came as a surprise to proprietors, as relations for some time had been friendly. As regards Huntly, a. conference between the men and the employers was held recently regarding certain matters, at the request of the former, and at the conclusion the men expressed satisfaction. .. A telegram from Huntly stake that it is reported locally that the voting was:— . - en In favour of a strike 60 Against a strike 180 It is bolieved that the voting at Pukemiro was solid against striking.
