THE WEATHER
* DISTRICT REPORTS. (From Our Special Correspondents.) Greytown, April 6,-rino, but cloudy.
Mr. W. H. Mall stated to a representative of tho "Sun" (Chxistohurch) that the fishing season had been very disappointing. Ho could not account for tho poor season, though fishermen advanced various theories. While last year large runs of (juinnat, salmon took place in February, especially in the Waitaki River, this year only odd fish had been seen so far. He referred to a letter he had received giving an account of a few days' fishing at Lake Pearson. Tho correspondent said chat the first day four rods secured 14 fish weighing 125i1b., the second day eight fish, 72i1b.; third day, 13, 1051b.; fourth day, seven, 441b.; fifth day (very windy) two, and sixth day, four, 331b. The total take consisted of 39 rainbow trout and nine Mackinaw, and tho average weight was 81b. Mr. Tisdall says this is the best record he has heard of this season.
