At that point France, needinn only a same to win, appeared to have a'chance of winning quite comfortably, but the older and more experienced playor wore him down, and brought, the score to eight all. Franco won another game, and Shephnrd won again—nine all. Again Franco took a game, hut Shephnrd took the next. At this stage the light was so bad that the flight of ; tho balls was difficult to follow, and rain had wet players and' courts. It was decided then to post- ; pone the match until some better day. Following aro the results of Satur- j day's games:— j CHAMPIONSHIPS. Men's Singles. Mitchell boat Drummond by default; France and Shephard, 10—10 (unfinished). Mitchell plays the winner of; this match in the final. ' Men's Doubles. Final.—Shephard and Sampson beat Wilson and Mitchell, 6—2, 6-5. Ladies' Singles. Miss Bennett heat Miss Walters, 9-6. Combined Doubles. Miss E. Stevens and Shephard beat Miss Sievwright and Leicester, 6—2, 3-6, 6-5. HANDICAPS. Men's Singles. Leicester (U) beat France (4), 60-49. Men's Doubles. Melody and Leicester (14) beat Howie and Smith (14), 70-63; Shephard and Sampson beat Drummond and Mitchell by default.

Ladies' Singles. Miss Carrick (10) beat Miss Sinclair foivo 2), 60-35. Ladies' Doubless Mrs. Melody and Miss Sievwright (8) beat Mrs. Whitcombe and Miss E. C. Stevens (4), 60—50.. Combined Doubles. Miss Bennett and Wilson (2) beat Miss Sinclair and Instoiio (14), 60—51. In the final Mrs. Melody and Melody beat Miss Bennett and Wilson, 60 —3-1.
