In the'days of auld lang syne a New Zealand-grown tobacco made its appearance on the market, but failed to get a bold of the smoking public. The leaf was alright, l but there was somothing deficient in the curing, and the industry languished and fizzled out. A much more recent attempt to solve the. problem resluted in tho production of the ''Gold Pouoh brand now firmly established in tho favour of smokers. It is grown in .Hawko's Bay district, and, manufactured under modern conditions, owes its popularity to its extraordinary mildness and distinctive aroma, which is entirely different from that of any othsr tobacco known. In pleasing contrast with the ordinary tobacco from' oversea you can smoke .Gold Pouch all the time, and it won't harm you becauae_ it contains so little nicotine, and it is this nicotine that is so injurious to health. Gold Pouch is practically the only tobacco that is absolutely free from bite, and this alone makes it superior to tho imported article. All those who have not smoked New Zealand tobacco should try it now, they will be agreeably surprised. No increase in price.—Advt.
An apple tree one hundred years old is a rarity, but a pear tree of three hundred, and still in full bearing, is by no means uncommon. In changeable weather take NAZOL on sugar or by inhalation. Best safeguard against chills. One dose a day keeps colds away. I s. 6d. buys 60 doses. -Advt.
