THE WAIRUNA'S CREW
ABOUT TWO OFFICERS. Ever since it. has been reported that the crew of the Wainma are prisoners of war in Germany there has been doubt as to the fate of two men who were 0 supposed to have been officers ot the ship, by name M'Kenzie and Isbister The Minister of Marine (the Hon T M. Wilford) has received from Mr D. A. Aiken, general manager of the Union Company, the following telegram on the subject:— "I have received the following from London:—'Two officers, M'Kenzie and Isbister, were not Wairuna men. M'Kenzie Carlsruhe, Isbister Brandenburg.' So far < as I can ascertain whole crew safe." . Mr WiMord considers that this news sets' at rest the question of the safety of the entire crew, M'Kenzie and Isbister being the only two men hitherto unaccounted for. . On the other hand. Captain M Indoe, secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, says that he has conclusive proof that the two men wore of the ship's company of the Wairuna, M Kenzie being first officer and Isbister third officer. It does appear, however, that they are safe, and that they iire interned in Germany.in the two camps named in Mr. Aiken's letter.
