Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited report haviun held tlicir fortnightly salo in tlieir Upper ilutt yards on Thursday, when they olfercd a good, yarding of irlieop and a medium one of cattle. Competition under he hammer lacked animation, except for wethers, and a number of lines of ewes failed to reach buyers' reserves at auction. Cattle were fairly well competed for, cptcially fat qowb. The principal sales wire as under:—Lightweight fat wethers, 30s. 9d to 31s. 2d.; forward 2-tooth wethers, 265. 9d.; 2 and 4tooth forward ewcß, 265. Bd.; good-condi-tioned 4-tooth wethers, 293 4d.; poor-con-ditioned ewes, lis. to 155.; cull ewes, 8s 9d. to 10s. Cattle; Light-weight fat cows, £9 10s. to £10 55.; lorwara empty cows, £7 165.; good-conditioned 3-year steers, £11 Messrs. Wright, Hephonson and Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly salo at Martinborough on Thursday, when they offered a yarding of 2000 sheep and 120. head of cattle to a good attendanco of buyers; the whole entry, with the exception of one pen of ewes and one pen of cattle changing hands. They Quote:— 2 and 4-tooth wethers 30s. 3d ; fat lambs, 305.; forward ewes. 16s. to 225. 6d.; store ewes, 10s. to 12a. 3d.; m.s. woolly lambs, 17s. Id.; cull b.f. iambs, 9s. 6d., lis, to 12s. Cattle: 2J to 3-year steers, £11 12s. 6d.; store cows, £6, £6 155., '~7 Is. to £8; li-year. coloured steers, £5 as.; weaner calves, to £5 75.; potter bulls, to £7 Dogs; £10 to £12. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report:-At Palmerston Aorth on Thursday we had a fair yarding. Bidding for sheep was slack; cattle sold at late rates. Quotations :-Foruard lambs, 175.; mixed lambs, Us.; mixed weaners (small), 255.: store cows, £7; •> year bullocks, £12 10s.
