By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, April 5. Wheat is still offering steadily as it is being thrashed. Oats are scarce and very hrni. Merchants are apparently buying to cover (forward sales and prices are being given at country stations above the equivalent of' new busi-ness-f.o.b. Gartons, which are most in demand, are worth 4s. to 4s. 4d..at country stations, according to quality and a higher figure has been given tor prime quality, although there is diihculty in shipping. Oatshcaf chaff is still in good demand as no large quantity is offering, it is worth all prices from about £4 10s. to £5 7s 6d. at country stations tho quality varies so season. Potatoes are firmer as offerings have fallen off, digging having been interrupted by the late rains and holidays. Sales lrave been made at £4 to £4'105., at country stations during the week-end, ana in several instances more money has been fiven to secure prompt delivery. Ihere is a good demand from 'Auckland,, where the- market is bare and prices high, but there is such' a scarcity, of shipping space that supplies required cannot be sent forward. A boat is expected to sail for Auckland next week but it is not anticipated there will be much space for Lyttelton cargo.
