ORDER PROM THE FOOD CGM'ftOLLLiR SHIPMENT SUSPENDED Instructions have been received V; the Government from tUe .British food Controller to suspend tile shipment of butter from A'ew Zealand. r lhe available shipping space is required lor supplies that are given preference over butter by the imperial snipping authorities. ihe Prime Minister stated yesterday that the order issued by the Shipping Controller lvas explicit. The shipping shortage had been accentuated by recent events, and it appeared that in the opinion of the Imperial authorities the whole of the space available for shipment of produce from New Zealand should be reserved at present for the articles more urgently required. Mr. Massey atlded that he hoped the suspension of the shipment of butter would bo temporary only. The local shipping authorities fortunately had been able t-o get away a good deal of butter already, and it . would have been necessary in any case to hold substantial supplies of butter in New Zealand for winter consumption.
