Semplo paid a tri- i bute to the work of the Conciliation Commissioner. The miners candidly . ' approve the Commissioner's "suggestion for a settlement. Ho admits tliero lias been no legal .victimisation, but victimisation in the .true, sense. The principle at stake is that a . man is the keeper of his own body. 1 A miner went home because he was sick; the mine manager wished to usurp the doctor's duty, and say the miner was not ill. Mine officials admit no complaint; the miner .was previously a good workman and obeyed orders promptly. Mr..Se.niple siiys a State mine, settlement is at hand.. ,• .. A meeting was held today. > WORK TO RESUME ON MONDAY. , an' official announcement. Cre'ymouth, .April 5.. It- is officially announced that work ; at the State mines, Runauga, will be | resumed on Monday next, and the union met,to-day, but what settlement 1 they came to amongst themselves is not so far made known. Later. The question of the continuance of the strike was submitted'to: a vote at the meeting of the union, with the result that a majority of nearly 3 to 1 ■ decided, to terminate the strike forthwith and resume work on Monday. The voting figures were: For resuming, 120; against resuming, 46. The Paparoa strike continues until the directors their, attitude towards. the compromise formulated toy tTie Conciliation' Commissioner. Mr. Hagger. • • ' \ • PRIME MINISTER'S ADVICE. The Prime Minister lias received tho following telegram from officers of tlio union in connection with the "strike: — "State mine disputo settled, men. resuming work Monday. Paparoa dispute thoroughly investigated'yesterday by Commissioner. and Federation'representatives. Your Commissioner has foiwarded certain .proposals to the direc-tors-and yourself which we endorse.
