! This afternoon the Star Boating Club | are holding their "members sports idav." A good gathering of members [and their friends is looked for at the | club house. Jupp's Band will play during tho afternoon, and afternoon tea will be served at the clubhouke. An interesting programme of races has [been arranged as under: — Double Sculls. —First heal: Wakelin (stroke), Reid (bow) row Montgomery (stroke), Chat-field (bow). Fours—First heat: Galvin (stroke), Hislop (3), Gamble (2), and Sinim (bow) row Mitchell (stroke), Coates (3), Marris (2), and Wilson (bow). Second heat: Tomlinson (stroke), M'Gowan (3), Gasquoine (2), Brown (bow) row Pollock (stroke), Wakelin (3), Diehl (2), Moss (bow). Double Sculls.—Second heat: M'Gowan (stroke), Marris (bow), row Coates (stroke), Gamble (bow). The heats will be rowed in the above order. The final of the Junior Double Sculls has now been rowed off, and resulted in a win for Coates (stroke) and Wakelin (bow), who defeated , Montgomery (stroke) and Gamble (bow) by a bare length. The losers were a much lighter crew, but made a game race of it, pushing their opponents hard at the finish. ! Some heats have been rowed in the i Junior Sculls. Wakelin defeated Coates j somewhat easily. A good race resulted ' in Marris winning from Brown by j about two lengths. It is hoped that i the remaining boats in the first round j will be got off speedily. j
