A WAR LOAN INQUIRY
Sir,—l bare an idea of investing a ! trifle in the War Loan for several ' young children, but am not conversant , with the best method of doing the ] business,. I thought about taking two bonds for youngsters about 10 years , of age, and one bond for another about 15 years of age. I would like ten- , year bonds for the younger, and fiveyear for the elder. How can I keep | them for the youngsters, so that no , one shall be able to deal with them during the currency of the loan ? This is the information I would like you to supply me with, if not too much trouble, and it is quite possible that there are others who would like the same information.—l nm, etc., AMICUS, April 3. [The child for whom it is desired to take out a'ten-year bond -inn,- if no other amount is invested in his name, have 'the money invested in 6 per cent. Post Office scrip, and the other child, for whom it is desired to procure a fiveyear investment, can purchase War Loan Certificates. The investments can be protected against anyone dealing with them in the following manner:— I The "War Loan Certificates can be lodged for custody, free of charge, with the General Post Office, and can only be obtained on the signature of the person lodging them. The Post Office 5 per cent, scrip will be.inscrib-' ed at the Treasury, and no transaction ■ can take place in it without special authority of the .owner, who could, if neccssary, advise the Treasury that, the money being trust money, no transfer should he recorded prior to its maturity except 011 'the death of tho holder;]
