DECREASED SUBMARINE LOSSES . BRITAIN'S SHIPBUILDING EFFORT A lull etill obtains in France, but further violent battles are anticipated in the near future. The existing situation is reviewed in an informative ivay by the British "high military authority" and others.. Reports from Rome and elsewhere suggest that an enemy offensive in Italy is imminent. This week's report on the submarine campaign shows a pronounced drop in British losses, six big ships sunk as against sixteen in the previous week. No French ships were sunk during the week, but the Italians lost three steamers. British shipyard workers are responding loyally to the urgent appeal lately addressed to them. Convincing evidence on the point is supplied in a report which states, amongst other things, that the output of shipping from British yards in March reaohed the record total of 161*674 . tons. , . ' .
