AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON EASY WIN FOR HOME TEAM • The interprovincial crioket match, Auckland v. Wellington, was resumed at the Basin lieoerve yesterday morning, in fine weather. The wicket was still soft. The result was an eaey win for tho home team by an innings and 12 runs. . The visitors started off well, but fell to pieces as the game progressed. Brice's deliveries seemed to have the batsmen tied up. ]?. Midlano played a good, safo game for Auckland, as did Hemus. For Wellington Tuckwell fielded very well, catching no fewer than four men in tte short slips. Baker also fielded well for tho home team. Midlano and Graham, who were the not-out mon the previous day, faced tho bowling of Harris and Crawford. A little later Brice took tho place of Harris. Runs came slowly till the score reached ■10, when Hiddleston took Crawford's end. With his second ball he clean bowled Graham: 46—2—11. Dacre was next, and opened his score with a 6ingle and a ! three. The board showed GO after fifty five minutes' play. A little later Crawford went on at tho southern end. Dacre hit Crawford's second ball into Iliddleston's hands, but the umpire had noballed Crawford. A couple of balls lator, however, Dacre was taught in the slips by Tuckwell: 63—3—7. Horspool, a Grafton player, joined the ex-Wellington man, and oponed with a singlo and a 3. Slow scoring brought the score to 80, and at 93 Tuoker replaced Crawford. A 4* by Horspool brought the total to ' 100. A little later Horspool hit one over ? his head, and was taken by Tucfcsvell in ' tho slips: 103—4—24. Hemus next joined Midlane. At 110, Crawford took Tucker's place at the northern end. Runs came very slowly till tho score reached 145, when the luncheon adjournment was taken. , Play was resumed at 2.38 p.m., Midlane 1 and Hemus lacing Brice and Crawford respectively. Two 2's and a single by • Hemus brought the total to 150. The last ball of Brice's next over proved | fatal for Midlane, and the score read: i 151—5—68. Brooke-Smith joined -Hemus, i and opened his score with a cut to the boundary'for 4, and shortly afterwards followed with another 4, and 160 was hoisted on tho board. At 3.5 p.m. tho soore was 170, the individual scores being Hemus 29, and Brooke-Smith 9. Hemus was at this stage caught by Tuckwell— his third catch—in short slips: 171—G—29; Lowry went to the creaso, and openod his account with a single off Crawford. Tho ; aext ball, however, the first of Brice s I over, separated his sticks, and the board | read: 175-7—l. Irving was next man, ! but he soon lost ! Brooke-Smith, Brice again being the successful bowler: 184r-8 —18. Garrard went in to bat at 3.25, and was caught in the shoTt slips by Tuckwell off Brico's first delivery: 181— 9—o. Coates was the Inst man in. Irving opened his score with a single off Crawford, and he got a 3 off the last ball of Brice's over. Tho board showed 190 at 3.35 p.m. Irving was run out at 3.38, and the gamo was finished, Wellington winning by an innings and 12 runs. THE SCORES.
