CALLOUS GERMANS
PREVENT ESCAPE OF WAR, PRISONERS FROM A FIRE. (Rec. April 2, 7.40 p.m.} _ _ London, April 1. ih« Government has issued a statement, received through the Dutch Legation at Berlin, of certain war prisoners at a seamen's prison camp in Brandenburg, confirming the recentlypublished story of the awful death of six Russian, one French, and one English seamen at that camp. The prisoners were shut in a dungeon for alleged insubordination. A lire started and the sentry did not heed the prisoners calls. The Englishman broke a window and leaned out, and a sentry bayoneted him in the chest. A revolting struggle followed, and other prisoners who attempted to escape were.repeatedly bayoneted, fell into tho flames and were burned to death.—Renter. '
