I OPENING OF TUB TOUENEY. A tennis tournament under tho auaiiccß of tho Wellington Lawn Tcnniß Aesooiatlon vjna commenced on the Brougham Hill Club's courts on Saturday, It had been intended that tho tourney should bo held on the Bay's Bay courts, but as thoro had been Tain the grass oourte at tho Bay were not available. Unfortunately, some of till* players who hnd entered to play in itatchoß were not aware of the changed plan, and they went to Dny'n Bay. The abfipuen of Ro many players made it difficult to arrango gamee on Saturday, hut the committee contrived to keep all the conrts occupied. Play -will bo resumed at 5.30 to-day on Brougham Dill courts. Following aro the results of tho'-matches decided:— CHAMPIONSHIP. Men's Singles. G. F. Wilson beat J. H. Mitchell, (k-% 6-1; W.
