"Generally speaking, the plays that aro successful in America take well here, out it is surprising to see some very high-class productions fail. Iho vaudeville business is tremendous. I had the pleasure of soeing Mme. Sarah Bernhardt at tho Palace, and our old friend Margaret Angliu in an English comedy drama, 'Billeted,' in which she made a big success. Mme. Alda, an Australian, is one of the leading sopranos at the' Metropolitan Opera House, and has a remarkable voice. She is now the wife of Mr Gatti-Gazza, the director of the theatre.
