MONEV MARKET.. The Bank of England discount rale wu3 on January 2, 1914, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., on January 22 it was reduces to 4 per cent., and on January 23 to o per cent. Oα July 30 the rate was raised to 4 per cent., on July 31 it ivas raised to 8 per cent., and on Augu6t 1 it wae further advanced to 10 per cent. On August i the rate was Teduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cont., on July 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5J per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to .6 per cent. OPEN MAEKET RATES. The open market discount rato for llii'co months' bills is 3" 9-16 per cent., us compared with 3 9-16 per cent, last week, and 4 9-16 per cent, last year. Short loann aro quoted at 3% tier cent., as against 3J per cent, last week, and <tj per cent, last year. COiiONIAIi AND OTHER J'RODUCE. Butter.—There are Rood arrivals, and stocks are steadily accumulating. The Controller will distribute next week onequarter oF the quantities applied for by the trade for the month of April. Cheese.—The above remark? with respect to butter'apply also to cheese. Wheat and Flour—The wheat market has practically nothing to offer, on account of the holidays. Home-milled flour is in plentiful supply, but business is very flow. Some sniall trade is doing in colonial flour at late rates. Oats.-The market is quiet. , Beans and Peas.—There is a strong demand owing to limited supplies of both. Thero are no Vasmanian or New Zealand peas offering. Sugar.—The position is unchanged.
