"VICTIMISATION"
ANOTHER SIDE OF THE QUESTION Union leaders make use sometimes of the word "victimisation," but always it is applied to something done by employers or other alleged representatives of the so-called capitalist class. The following letter received by an Australian politician from an old unionist refers to another sort of victimisation:—"As there is so much to tsay at the- present time about victimisation, and as the industrial laws are about to be amended, as a unionist I would like to say there is no Government that has ever victimised any man or men like- the unions have, and it is time .when a union is registered or in the Arbitration Court there should be something to deal wifh the eo-called voluntary levy. Thu strike committee or some other body of men fix such levy, and it is passed, and you are forced to pay it, no matter what circumstances you are in. If you don't pay it, there is a record kept. They issue a ticket, and if you can't show it you are called a , and become a marked man. . It is time there was some law to stop this."
