URGENTLY NEEDED IN FRANCE
MESSAGE FROM ME. LLOYD GEORGE (Rec. March 28, 11.30 p.m.) New York, March 28. Lord Reading, British Ambassador to the United States, has received a message from Mr". Lloyd George, stating:—"lt is impossible to exaggerate the importance of America sending reinforcements to France 'at the earliest moment/ Time is vital. We are at the greatest crisis of the most momentous battle in history, but are buoyed up by the knowledge that America will neglect n'o effort to hasten her troops. Our Army has been forced to retire, but is facing the situation with splendid courage and resolution."—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. TRAINING OF MORE MEN URGED AND HASTENING OF LARGE NUMBER TO THE FRONT. Washington, March 27. General Wood, who has recently returned from the front; giving evidence before the Senate Military Committee, urged America to put five million men into training and to send two and a half million to the front without delay. Senator ,H. S. New has introduced a resolution providing for compulsory universal military training.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE NEXT LIBERTY LOAN "AMERICA'S UTTERMOST RESOURCES WILL BE GIVEN." Washington, March 27. It is announced that the next Liberty Lonn will be of 3,000,000,000 dollar's (£600,000,000) at 4i per cent. Mr. M'Adoo, Secretary of the Treasury, in announcing the now Liberty Loan, said that America will give her uttermost resources to bring an end to the execrable societies of German militarism.
