Cliaffe, the ■ Mariihii mailman, - succumbed in Hospital to injuries received whilo lighting a fire with benzine in mistake for kerosene. She was in her nightdress at the time, am) ths dress wna soon a mass of flames.. The previous evening Mrs. Chaffe llad been ironing a lot of.clothing, which was destroyed , when the accident occurred. Mr. Chaffo was badly injured when extinguishing the flames.
