The scene was a distinctly animated one during the afternocn, when the big shoir window in Courtcnay Place attracted a numerous assemblage of people, who were not the least bit backward at investing in eggs. Now and again an excited inwould strike a ticket labelled "Special prize." These represent articles of real value, but precisely what the prizes are will not be revealed until after Mondiy. As separate lists of prizes and murbers wore ■ arranged hy the Prime' Minister on Wednesday evening, no one knows "what is what" as regards these special prises, hut anvone drawing a special prize ticket will know that'he or she is one of 140 people who have a oh a nee to win the "Chevrolet" car. One young lady, charmingly excited over l drawing a "special," made her luck known to those round her. She was offered pounds for her ticket, but preferred to retain it on the chance of drawing one of the big prizes. What everyone should know is that no ticket is of a less value than 6d., but'the chances are that the value of the great.majority of the goods is nearer one shilling. Messrs. Jackson and Co., .the paint manufacturers,' donated a quantity of their paint, but found that they could not measure out a shilling's worth into the tins at their disposal owning to the high price of the ingredients, so that anyone drawing a tin of paint will know that the contents are at least worth Is. 6d. at present-day market values. A great many of the tickets represent sixpenny orders on different firms, giving the public the choice of anything in the store up to the value of sixpence. During Thursday u bevy of xounf; ladies, well supplied with "eggs," took their stand at places of vantage throughout the city, and must have sold many thousands during the day. Mr. C. M'lntyre. the organiser, will leave for the country to-day on an eggselling mission, and is confident ■ that the people up the line will be only too glad of the opportunity to help the sufferers by the fire by investing a .'.hilling. The sale will 'be continued throughout to-day and also on Monday and Tuesday, by which time the market may be denuded of Easter eggs.
